We proudly congratulate Ms. Coleen Pangilinan, Senior Research Associate of NCBB, for successfully completing the Young Women for Biosecurity (YWB) Fellowship Program organized by the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA). She was selected alongside nine outstanding young women scientists from the Global South, marking a special edition of the fellowship in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC).
The fellowship began with intensive online workshops on the BWC, gender equity in science diplomacy, and leadership, and culminated in an in-person engagement in Geneva from December 08 to 12, 2025 during the Seventh Session of the Working Group on Strengthening the BWC. There, Ms. Pangilinan connected with global biosecurity leaders and participated in high-level briefings with key stakeholders, including the European Union, WHO, FAO, WOAH, UNIDIR, IBBIS, and other leading institutions in global health and security.
This achievement marks an important milestone for NCBB as we continue to advance national, regional, and global biosecurity efforts, particularly in support of the Biological Weapons Convention.
